Educational Researcher (volunteer)

STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

Time commitment – 6 hours/week

Description: We are seeking a passionate and analytical Educational Researcher Volunteer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research that supports the development and enhancement of STEM Canada’s educational programs and initiatives. This position requires strong research skills, a deep understanding of educational methodologies, and a commitment to advancing STEM education through evidence-based practices.

Key Responsibilities:
•	Design and execute research projects to gather data on educational trends, best practices, and the effectiveness of STEM programs. Analyze findings to provide actionable insights that inform program development and improvement.
•	Review existing research, literature, and case studies related to STEM education. Synthesize relevant information to support the development of new educational strategies and resources.
•	Assess the impact and effectiveness of STEM Canada’s educational programs and initiatives. Collect and analyze feedback from students, educators, and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement.
•	Prepare detailed reports and presentations on research findings, including recommendations for program enhancements. Communicate results effectively to various stakeholders within the organization.
•	Work closely with program coordinators, educators, and other departments to ensure that research findings are integrated into program planning and decision-making processes.
•	Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and methodologies in STEM education. Evaluate how these developments could be applied to enhance STEM Canada’s programs.
•	Provide research support for grant applications and proposals by contributing data and evidence that demonstrates the impact and need for STEM Canada’s programs.
•	Keep accurate and organized records of research activities, including data, reports, and publications. Ensure that all documentation is accessible and up-to-date.

Requirements:
•	Demonstrated experience in educational research, with a strong understanding of research methodologies, data analysis, and evaluation techniques.
•	Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and derive meaningful conclusions and recommendations.
•	Proficiency in conducting literature reviews, designing research studies, and analyzing educational data.
•	Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
•	Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple research projects and meet deadlines.
•	Passion for STEM education and a commitment to supporting STEM Canada’s mission through rigorous and insightful research.
•	Familiarity with research tools and software (e.g., SPSS, Excel, qualitative analysis software). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.
•	Ability to engage with a diverse global audience and work within a multicultural environment.
