Volunteer Writer

Ongoing
Project Tight Knit is a teen-led local service with the goal of spreading love and positivity to the elderly community in nursing homes in the form of LETTERS!

This is strictly a volunteering opportunity and NO one will be getting paid.

If you are looking for volunteer hours please see the steps below:

Regarding gaining volunteering hours I recommend you first discuss this with your school's guidance counsellor and see if they accept your hours volunteering with us. Since we are not a registered charity or non-profit organization (don’t have a registered non-profit or charity number) and are only a local service group. However, if you contacted your school and they accepted your supervisor would be me, Parmis Falahat. Additionally, for every three letters written, you will receive one hour’s worth of community involvement. Please keep in mind that you are responsible for keeping track of your hours and that your letters need to be at an appropriate length.

Once you have decided that you no longer want to volunteer with us, you should send us your volunteer form as a pdf containing the appropriate information. We will later review, sign, and scan it back to you.

If you are not looking for volunteering hours you can start right away by writing letters about different topics such as your favourite memories, pets, jokes, riddles, previous vacations, and much more. Please keep them lighthearted. Samples of previous letters can be found on our website (keep in mind they were written during the pandemic). You then send them to us (through the email address projecttightknit@gmail.com) and we print them and take them to nursing homes. We try to send them every month. (Please do not include anything political or religious, the date you are writing the letters, and COVID-19). Your letters should not be directed to anyone since they are distributed at random. When you have written the letters please send them to us in the form of google docs, word documents, or pdf.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Students or individuals who are looking for volunteering hours can do so through this project. The requirements are listed in the description and can reach us at projecttightknit@gmail.com
