Squamish Food Bank Market Volunteer
Squamish Food Bank Volunteer The Squamish Food Bank, also known as The Market at Under One Roof, provides safe, dignified, and secure access to nutritious food for all community members in times of need. We operate a low-waste community food hub where food is rescued, repurposed, and shared. In 2024, we welcomed 9,729 visits from individuals and families, an average of 810 visits per month. Each week, our team recovers about 6,000 pounds of food from farms, retailers, and restaurants, which is then turned into nutritious meals for Squamish residents. Volunteers are truly the heart of the Market. Together, they contribute about 200 hours each month, helping us sort donated food, prepare meals, and support clients. Thanks to these efforts, over 100,000 kilos of food are spared from the landfill annually, reducing food costs and ensuring food goes where it’s needed most. We have a variety of ways to get involved in the Food Bank, including: Food rescue pickup – supporting the collection of donated food from local partners. Sorting & stocking – organizing and preparing rescued and donated food. Hamper packing – assembling hampers for individuals and families. Market support – checking in clients, restocking shelves, and assisting community members during open hours. Scheduling Opportunities are available Monday through Saturday. Shifts are typically 2–3 hours. Volunteers can commit to a weekly or bi-weekly shift or join us on a casual basis depending on availability.
