Southland Barn Manager - Volunteer

6 months minimum
Summary

Be the team lead to support the Southland Barn Volunteer Team. Once you are trained as a Southland Barn Volunteer, you will support and help cover shifts for the volunteer team.
Volunteers are responsible for maintaining the shelter and monitoring the health and wellbeing of our 3 geriatric semi-feral cats, in a barn environment.

Shifts
-	Availability must be flexible
-	Be available to fill open shifts not covered Southland Barn Volunteers.
-	Be available for consult by the volunteer team around concerns and questions

Southland Barn Volunteer Shifts

Each shift is completely dependent on the volunteer’s availability. The tasks of a shift typically take anywhere from 1-2hours. The timing of a shift can be anywhere inside 8AM-6PM. Volunteers are not allowed on the property before 8AM and are asked to be off the property by 6PM. We require only 1 volunteer each day. Volunteer cannot bring someone with them to their shift. However, there are often people around during the day and the property owner or stable staff are always reachable should an emergency occur while on shift.

Southland Barn Volunteer Duties

-	Putting out fresh wet food, dry food, and water, and changing out and washing all dishes
-	Scooping and sanitizing litter boxes, sweeping floors and troubleshooting leaks with buckets etc.
-	Volunteers are to monitor each cat's activity and appearance/wellbeing, and log concerns in a binder for other volunteers to see and continue monitoring, as well as report it the Manager
-	Volunteers are never asked to do any of the larger work, e.g. building maintenance, heavy lifting etc.
-	Report to Southland Barn Manager for any concern around cat’s health
-	Does not require previous experience working with cats, or even barn experience, just have to be willing to work in this environment and help out, meaning take regular shifts
-	It's not glamourous work, this is very much a barn-environment, we are looking for anyone who loves animals enough to show up -rain or shine. It's dirty and dusty, and in the winter months especially, it is wet and muddy
-	Other critters around - raccoons, squirrels, rats, crows, seagulls, eagles, and a healthy amount of spiders and flies
